Best beach spots to sleep in your car for free in Sydney: tried and tested!

As a backpacker a few years ago, it was a nightmare when it comes to finding a good spot to sleep in a CBD, especially in high-density states like Sydney and Melbourne. I thought of share a few spots close to the beach which I have tried and tested in Sydney, Australia and may help you in one day.

Barracluff Park

Located in North Bondi and easy to locate via the corner of the old south head road. This is a recreation park managed by Waverley city council and a good spot to sleep in your camper for free. Bondi beach and few hostels nearby for toilet requirements. You can park the camper and reach to CBD via 386 and 387 buses to save high parking cost of Sydney CBD.

Long Reef Beach

Long Reef Beach

A perfect stretch of white sandy beach located towards north and closer to Dee Why. A beach famous for the best views of Sydney and sometimes for whale watching. In simple, this is a surfer’s paradise and you will see many windsurfers and kitesurfs during the season.

Dee Why Beach

Dee Why Beach

One of the highly vibrant suburbs in Sydney and offers a variety of accommodation, dining, shopping, and nightlife. A free sleep near Dee Why beach and you can unwind and relax the nest day on soft sand, and explore the great ocean views in next day. Do not forget to take a quick walk to Curl Curl if you happen to camp here.

Clovelly Beach

Another great free spot to park and sleep in your car close to Sydney CBD. Take your snorkeling kit and Clovelly beach is famous among snorkelers. Those concrete promenades on sides are great spots for sunbathing.
