Things to do if you are a true beach lover
If you love the beach and want to spend a great day out on Central Coast, NSW below is our suggestion to plan an awesome tour from Sydney. Our itinerary is enjoying stunning views from Wybung Head, walk-on Catherine Hill Bay, take a stunning insta worthy photo at Caves Beach and stay at one of the lighthouse keepers’ quarters at Norah’s head.
Insta photo at Caves Beach
If you are driving from Sydney, we suggested visiting the Caves beach first on your day trip to Central Coast. It is a spectacular sea caves structure located on the Swansea peninsula near Lake Macquarie. If you are visiting this place, advise to go on the low tide as see can be rough during high tide.
Catherine Hill Bay
Passing the Wallarah National Park, we recommended you stop at Catherine Hill Bay as the second stop. An old mining village surrounded by high hills and bushland. Why not take a walk to the viewing platform in Catherine Hill overlooking the beach?
Hike at Wybung Head
The next stop is the Wybung Head located in the Munmorah state conservation area. Wybung Head is famous for whale watching during the season. If hiking is one of your lists to do, Wybung has a grade 3 return loop that takes nearly 25 mins to complete. However, we do not recommend going closer to the shore as the seas could be very rough in certain months. And Wybung stands the meaning in aboriginal language “dangerous sea”.
Night at Norah Head Light House
After a great day at the coast, time to rest. And our pick is Norah Head lighthouse keepers’ quarters. Visiting Norah Head lighthouse on a day trip to Central Coast is one of the best things to do. Norah Head lighthouse has been a witness to history for years. It watched over the Norah Head shoreline and sailors in the days when they were thick with fishing boats. And technology was not much developed. This is a perfect place for a weekend getaway and you can book a lighthouse keeper’s quarters to stay in luxury.
The above if you love the beach and golden sand. But what about if you want to see wildlife, want to try some adrenaline-filled activities, or explore the rich history that belongs to Central Coast? see our other suggestions to add to your day trip to Central Coast.
