SIGHTSEEING SYDNEY CITY TOUR

ITINERARY

Tour starts - The Coathanger and The Rocks
The starting point for your Sydney city tour will be determined on the day, taking into account factors such as traffic conditions, school zones, weather, and overall timing.

When starting from The Rocks, key highlights include:

The historic Argyle Cut and Argyle Steps (convict-carved sandstone passage)

Charming Nurses Walk – one of Sydney’s most picturesque historic laneways

Panoramic views of the Sydney Harbour Bridge

Outstanding examples of Victorian-era architecture and beautifully preserved heritage sandstone buildings
Sit and Relax at Mrs Macquarie’s chair

Named after Elizabeth Henrietta Macquarie, the wife of Major-General Lachlan Macquarie, who governed New South Wales from 1810 to 1821, Mrs Macquarie’s Chair is a carved stone seat positioned at Mrs Macquarie’s Point near the Royal Botanic Gardens. This popular spot provides a stunning view of Sydney’s bay, including the iconic Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge. For the best experience, visit during sunset to capture the sun setting over the bay, adding a stylish and lovely touch to the city.
Stop at Cafe De Wheels

Harry’s Café de Wheels is a quintessential Sydney icon, operating since the 1930s (with its current form from 1945) and recognized by the National Trust as a vital part of Australia’s cultural heritage. Its signature Tiger Pie — a hearty meat pie topped with mashed potato, mushy peas, and gravy — offers an authentic taste of classic Australian street food, drawing everyone from sailors and locals to celebrities like Frank Sinatra, Elton John, and Prince Harry. A must-visit on any Sydney city tour, it captures the city’s nostalgic, working-class spirit while offering stunning waterfront views near the Finger Wharf, blending history, tradition, and casual Aussie charm in one unforgettable stop.
The Gap Lookout & Watson bay

The Gap viewpoint, located on the South Head peninsula in New South Wales, Australia, offers breathtaking views of the Tasman Sea, making it a highlight of our Sydney City Tour. It’s renowned as one of Sydney’s top lookouts, complete with tranquil benches where visitors can soak in the stunning scenery. The area is rich in diverse vegetation, wildlife, and an abundance of bird species. Nearby attractions include the historic Hornby Lighthouse, the scenic South Head Heritage Trail, Vaucluse House, and the serene Camp Cove. However, it’s important to remember that the Gap is also known as a suicide hotspot.

Just 11 kilometres northeast of Sydney’s CBD, Watsons Bay—once a quaint fishing village—now offers visitors on a Sydney City Tour sweeping panoramic views of Port Jackson and the surrounding coastal landscapes. The bay takes its name from the mooring on its western side in Port Jackson. Nearby attractions include Robertson Park, the Gap, Camp Cove, Hornby Lighthouse, and the iconic Macquarie Lighthouse.
Macquaries lighthouse

You can continue to Macquarie’s lighthouse, which is located along the magnificent Federation Cliff Walk, after exploring Watsons Bay. On 2 April 1999, this lighthouse was added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register, and on 22 June 2004, it was added to the Commonwealth Heritage List. The Governor of NSW, Lachlan Macquarie, commissioned architect Francis Greenway to design this lighthouse. On the other hand, the current lighthouse is a reproduction of the first and was designed by James Barnet.
Bondi Beach

Bondi Beach is one of Sydney’s most iconic destinations, located just 7 km east of the Sydney CBD. This 1 km-long beach is a bustling tourist hotspot, named after the Aboriginal word “Boondi,” meaning “surf.” While Australia boasts many stunning beaches, Bondi Beach is truly exceptional. Its close proximity to Sydney’s city center, safe swimming conditions, world-class restaurants, and pristine white sands make it a standout. Bondi is also a haven for surfers and swimmers, drawing adventure enthusiasts from around the globe. The beach hosts annual events such as the City to Surf race, Flickerfest, Sculpture by the Sea, and the Winter Magic Festival. Additionally, Bondi Beach serves as the starting point for the renowned Bondi to Coogee coastal walk. Combine your visit with a Sydney city tour for an unforgettable experience that blends urban exploration with coastal beauty.

Sydney City Tour review

We were very fortunate to have Rocky as our tour guide. He was very knowledgeable about Sydney and took us to not only the iconic, but the much less known beauty of Sydney as well. He had a good sense of humor and had a keen sense of the history and shared the information in a very fun way. Highly recommended.
